About

Barry Harrison

Barry is blues royalty;  a true legend among blues drummers and connoisseurs. Thus, his name “The Baron of the Blues”, as musicians often introduce him on-stage, is a perfect fit with his real name, Baron. Barry’s playing personifies the quintessential blues-based drummer: a deep pocket, tight groove and supportive agility. Barry spent years with Shemekia Copeland touring on myriad domestic and international tours. Before that, he also toured for years as tenure drummer with the legendary Johnny Copeland. Currently Barry is the house drummer at the famed Manhattan blues venue, Terra Blues, working with the five-time WC Handy Award and Grammy Award nominee Michael Powers, as well as with the blues staple musicians on the NYC blues scene, Jerry Dugger, Saron Cranshaw, Clarence Spady, and Bobby Radcliff, Steve Guyger, Harlem Heritage Blues Orchestra, among many others. On his first release as a solo artist,’Baron of the Blues’, Barry’s amazing vocal abilities are featured along with his drumming, all recorded live with the Big Apple Blues and legendary guitarist Hugh Pool.
